For folks who make their living in rural Montana, plans of an environmental non-profit creating an “American Serengeti” on the land may feel like a swipe at their core values.

I do not support free range or any type of bison grazing on BLM lands.
Correction, APR does not own 400,000 acres.
105,378 acres are owned.
The remaining 325,047 are federal and state lands on which APR currently holds grazing privileges.
Those are largely multiple use lands with preference grazing for production livestock, which APR is attempting to have removed from food production and use for their “conservation“ bison herd.
It is simple outrageous that a nonprofit organiztion be allowed to storm into MT uninvited and create a multimillion acre bison reserve on land that has been dedicated to agriculture for the last 100 years. Thank you Attorney General Knudsen for helping land owners address this critical issue.
