Nearly a year-and-a-half of digging, communicating, and collaborating has paid dividends for Montana’s growing tech industry.
In October, 2023, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) designated Montana as a regional tech hub, and awarded $500,000 to start it up. Business and economic development leaders got right to work, and in July, the EDA awarded Montana’s Headwaters Tech Hub $41 million dollars. The funding will be used in part to help develop commercial applications for smart photonic sensing.
Montana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Todd O’Hair, and Adam Gilbertson, Senior Vice President of Field Technology and Innovation, at RDO Equipment, have been working to advance this cause and join us to talk about what this means for Montana’s economy, as well as discuss the practical smart photonic applications already being tested in Montana.
