A New 10-Year Plan to Address a “Wildfire Crisis”
With wildfires a growing concern, the federal government has announced a new 10-year strategic plan to address what the USDA is calling a “wildfire crisis.”
The plan calls for forest health treatments in a newly designated area of focus called “firesheds” – large forested landscapes with a high likelihood that a fire could expose communities and resources to heavy damage.
Bryan Lorengo, a policy specialist for the Montana Logging Association, will join us to discuss how much of an impact the initiative, combined with $3 billion dollars in infrastructure spending, could have on wildfires, land management, and the timber industry.
