The Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association is sounding an alarm over a leaked agreement that energy officials say could lead to the dismantling of critical hydropower on the Columbia River Basin.  On the table is an apparent multi-billion-dollar settlement in a salmon fisheries suit that would change the water management of the Columbia River Basin, including the removal of dams.

Mark Lambrecht, Director of Government Relations for MECA believes the multi-billion-dollar agreement would also come at a high price for millions of electricity users across the west. Lambrecht is urging Montanans to ask the state’s federal delegation to become involved.
