Nearly 300 miles of the 1200-mile Keystone XL pipeline was slated to have crossed the Treasure State, which would have been the longest stretch of any U.S. state. Thus, the abrupt cancellation of the KXL pipeline by the Biden Administration comes at a hefty price tag to Montana – literally hundreds of jobs and an estimated $9 million annually in property tax revenue.
