A 2023 CDC Youth Risk Behavior Study revealed the struggles our students face in public schools. 25% of the more than 4,500 Montana students who took the survey said they had “seriously considered” suicide in the past 12 months, with 15% attempting it.
With that as background, two Montana public education professionals, Dr. Tim Tharp, Superintendent of Richland County Schools, and Tobin Navasio, Superintendent of Hardin Public Schools, join the program to explore the root causes of youth depression and how the schools are addressing mental health in our school system.
Bout time, Montana is a beautiful state and leads or is close to being the leader of suicides including adolescent suicide. No matter the root cause, our state needs the awareness and loudly spoken on behalf of our children .
